So on Friday, after a freakin long exhausting week we headed to our man Joey’s crib just for a chill. We all deserved it! So suddenly, the crazy ginger head, jumps up and says: “I want to open this, now!”. He turns around and comes up with a book. A book, which he bought over 6 months ago, which he kept close, playing with the idea to become a millionaire of it one day… Mission obviously failed!
The treasure’s packaging revealed that it is #5825 of the 6000 limited Japan Release copies. Good start! We opened the box, and found a first preview of the inside printed on a silver foil. Starting to cut it open… Joey’s heart beating, he was gettin nervous there for a second! What we found inside was: A book, a Japanese written note (probably the proof of authenticity?) and a CD. The book, a hard cover made out of metal with the title “SEX” engraved on the front… By now, do you know what Im talking about?!
More hints: The interior is entirely shot by Steven Meisel, with texts from the iconic miss M. and it was released in 1992. The normal issue was sold over 1,5 million times, making it the most successful Coffee Table Book of all times. Still don’t know?!
Ok before I get tired myself, lets get to the point: Yes, Joey Elgersma is proud (which he damn right can be!) owner of the “SEX” by Madonna limited Japanese bla bla bla edition, that he was looking for for 2 years! Amazing photography, awesome texts and a lot of letters to “Johnny” (be good)! We sucked in every image, every text and wanted to share part of this beautiful experience with you.
My favourite part of texts:
“Ill teach you how to fuck” // “Bend over baby. Im going to make you smile” // “Only the one who hurts you can comfort you. Only the one who inflicts the pain can take it away” // “I will raise you from the ground and without a sound you’ll appear and surrender yourself to me, to love” // “A lot of people are afraid to say what the want. Thats why they don’t get what they want”.
