Broken Dimanche Press @ Motto Berlin. 28.09.2011-13.10.11
To mark the publication of the novel The Readymades Broken Dimanche Press will hold a series of European exhibitions of LGB art, featured in the novel abd which was created in collaboration with the Serbian artist and filmmaker Darko Dragicevic.
The achievement of “The Readymades” cannot be understated; this is a novel that will realign what the European novel can do in terms of imaginative ambition. Its canvass is the 20th century legacy of Dada, the world of relational aesthetics and commercial contemporary art of the last 15 years.
This is a world of fast living artists, their aggressive dealers, a world where emotional turmoil leave behind lives that literally burn out in their intensity.
Having mapped a formidably impressive and academically hermeneutic artistic neo-avant-garde – the LGB group – John Holten and Darko Dragicevic have created a world that blurs the boundaries of what is real and what is fiction and together they have radically redefined what a signature means to a work of art: the beginning and end of a personal and collective history is offered a space to move through with these unique exhibitions and novel.
LGB art concerned the everyday, its myriad manifestations as well as sexual and social transgressiveness and was characterised by a neo-Dada, pluralist tendencies.
A neo-avant- garde of transgression, aversion, the quotidian.
