Echo last week. I was sick, had a terrible cold, was freezing, and everything was overwhelming. I didn’t have to take the train, but was picked up by an incredibly good looking driver who went by the name of Marco. The rest? I spent the evening kissing Robbie Williams. Or rather he kissed me. Without me having to ask for it. Now how nice is that?
No doubt, it’s an important day. It is the day we celebrate the German Reunification – the national holiday. This year is special. Even though we didn’t celebrate the 20th anniversary of that particular day, we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall (that always takes place in November). The importance of this day for Germany in general and for Berlin in particular was maybe the reason why over 1 Million people came out party at the Brandeburg Gate on Saturday. Bands were playing, it was also the finale of the Coca Cola Soundwave Discovery Tour (a talent contest for young bands that are given the chance to play in front of a HUGE crowd) so MTV broadcasted the party live!
It was a great, yet exhausting day! And impressive. Mad impressive!
Two gigantic puppets on a string had been making they’re way through the entire city in the days before October 3rd. They were telling a story about finding and losing people. The smaller puppet was the lost niece of the bigger puppet.
She approached the Brandeburg gate from the East:
And he approached it from the West:
After a long search they met in middle: right at the Brandenburg Gate!
It was touching. Especially for the kids that couldn’t stop staring! After that it was time to work.
I was rocking the “Just Dada It” shirt for the show and found some more Artschool love: Benny rocking the “Wrestle Eins” shirt!
Best preconditions to let the games begin:
The crew
Barbie moment (the pink was REALLY pink!):
Touch up:
Ma favorite colleague (who has a serious cellphone addiction!):
But he is the best in the world!
Secuuuuurity Andreas and production manager Pierre (he’s a lot taller than most people so they are prone to listen to whatever he says) as well as production manager Nathalie that cheated her way onto to picture
Bumped into my lovely colleague Palina backstage who was visiting us and had to laugh because we obviously favor the same Nike windrunner channeling some “Scarface photo wallpaper” appeal. You gotta love it!
And the most IMPRESSIVE shot of the evening: The stage shot looking down at over half a million people!
Kids, the last week was extremely as in EXTREMELY exciting. I spent a few days in Cologne at the finale of Germany’s Next Topmodel. My colleague Annemarie and I hosted red! right after the big finale live from the arena in Kölle and had a blast.Well what did you expect, after ol’ gurl Sara (who is incredibly cute by the way) won?!
Seriously? I was so overwhelmed by the mere size of the production that it was more than a blessing not only to have an incredible crew, but to have some of my friends working there as well. Joy, Phillo (homie, just so you know: I was trying to sleep – YOU were talking my ear off. POW!) Nico, Chima, Ocky, Tadi and many more. You guys really saved my day!
I’m working on trying to get more pics, because for whatever reason I hardly ever had my camera on me. But I know for fact, that some of my sweet colleagues (Sascha I’m talking to you here!) took some pictures. I promise, I’ll try to get a hold of that and then there will be more to come!
Yeah, yeah, yeah I’ve been lazy in the last couple of days…rather weeks. But really? I just didn’t feel like blogging. I just didn’t feel like sharing stuff. So okay, call me “exclusive Hadsen”, but it is what it is.
So what have I been up to? A lot. Spent the Easter holidays in Vienna with Romes. Lovely city. Beautiful, very posh, relaxed, charming, kinda boring though! We didn’t go out and stayed more on the tourist-Sissi-Melange-tip! Here’s the obligatory Stephansdom-shot:
Then, the news might have hit you, I have a new gig. I’m officially RED! on Pro Sieben now. I did my first show a few days ago and the response has been really interesting so far. It was new for me to see myself with straight hair, wearing this bright colored dress and those high high heels. Grown up somehow – definitely a new side of me!
Other than that, I’ve really just been enjoying spring a lot. Noticed that it’s my favorite season of the year!
Really. We are. Me too. A lot of things are very easy for us today. Like flying from A to B. Calling people from anywhere we are. Being connected to the rest of the world etc. Easy. We go on vacation to the other side of the planet, opening hours are sooo last century, if you can’t get the shoe here, order it online from Japan! Easy. Sometimes we forget though, how priviliged we are. I forget it too – all the time. Then I go to Eritrea and feel really stupid with my limited sneakers, my super-hip bag, my very exclusive Japanese denims (you know the ones you’re only allowed to wash every 6 months) etc. You just SOOO feel ridiculous. In a way. Then I realize, that’s just my life. I like the stuff. And it’s okay to like it. As long as you don’t let the gear own you or start to take things for granted! Louis CK, a great comedian, was on Conan O’Brian’s show a while ago and gave this really great performance! I urge you to watch it…..like PLEEEEAAAASE! Embedding isn’t possible – unfortunately!
So I just watched the last 5 minutes of this tv competition. As usual it was a peculiar mix of amusement, irritation and mostly shame. Then I got mad because I started asking myself why Germany isn’t really capable of generating real talent on a show like that. Like, someone we can watch and be totally happy with. Someone who is cool, really good, nice and just most of all talented – in international standards. Someone that we don’t grow bored of instantly. If you look at casting shows in other parts of the world, you’d be blown away by the talent that is displayed. The people that go there are really good singers. On my research I came across a young girl that goes by the name of Alexandra Burke. She just won Britain’s “The X Factor” in December and completely stole my heart, not only with her song choice (y’all know I’m a sucker for Whitney) but also with her amazing performance.
Let’s see past the annoying story (why everything’s gotta have a f*ckin’ story?!?); she really is absolutely fabulous and I started crying, the second she started singing!
You can fast forward to 01:50 if you want jump right into the performance.
After she won, she got the chance to sing a great track with an amazing performer and she really could compete. Now imagine any of the German casting show winners on one stage with Beyoncé singing “Listen”… IMPOSSIBLE. Just can’t see it. Tobias Regner? Mark Medlock? Damn. We suck.
Didn’t this use to be the SHIAT! A few weeks back I caught an episode on the tv and was sooo excited about it! Funny: I would kill for some outfits on the show! 80ies aesthetics at its best. From a time before David Hasselhoff thought he was actually responsible for the Berlin Wall coming down, before the red shorts and the terrible music…from a time when he was actually really cool and his car was dope!
I had to post the German intro! Just HAD to. Don’t you just love the narrator’s voice! Damn…
I really love soccer. I do. I watch the Bundesliga every weekend and I am a true fan of my team VfB Stuttgart (please, people, bite your tongue – for real!). I cried all the way to home when Senegal lost the world championship quarter finals against Turkey in 2002 and don’t think that I’ve fully gotten over it. BUT: hardly ever have I seen someone more passionate about the love of his life than this guy.
Errbody: please meet AC Milan’s own Tiziano Crudeli. I swear I’m still out of breath! Do me a favor – always watch the other commetators as well. Their reaction is just as hilarious!
Gloria von Thurn und Taxis is the head of one of Germany’s richest families. We all remember her stupid ass comment on black people and their problem with “schnackseln” from 2001. Now this dumb broad is back with some new ammo and we wanna bitch slap her some more. She just wrote a book that basically consists of one loooong interview with Cologne’s own Cardinal Meisner, the most notorious and conservative catholic in Germany and now she was a guest on Beckman. I don’t know why people actually give this chick the chance to spread her stupid theories but they do.
Here is a video of the crucial part. This is a discussion on Aids, the church and prevention of HIV. The madness begins around 07:45. She seriously makes me sick to the point I want somebody to hurt her. Gloria and her useless brother next to her present a certain type of people that are a threat to public sanity and well being: people that are rich, somewhat influencial and dumb! Scary and sad. Really, really sad!
This girl is automatic, supersonic, hypnotic, funky fresh, works your body so melodic and she goes right through your chest! Other than that she is MTV on your telly, Fritz on your radio, Juice on your newstand and now: artschool vets on your computer! Yessir!
