I’ve been meaning to post this and introduce this dapper gentleman for quite a while now. Finally came around it. Please meet Stones Throw’s newest musical gift to the world: Mayer Hawthorne. He’s talented. A great dj turned soul singer who brings back some sort of decency to the out-of-control-in-and-out-of-jail-in-and-out-of-rehab music scene. I like his style – musically and fashionwise!

His album “A Strange Arrangement” has been out for 3 weeks now, I urge you to go and get it!

You’ll love this guy! Promise. I mean, I love him. And how couldn’t I: He released his first single on heart-shaped vinyl!

It’s amazing, but right now everything is good. My parents are healthy, my sister’s about to make me an auntie, my brothers are both with me, one of my best friends is about to marry the love of her life, I’ll soon have my Nati back, Ruthi is happy with her job, Ms. Slick is about to make me a godmother, the girls are all doing their thang, the ones I thought I had lost I will never lose, I have plenty of work, I eat, I’m free, the sun is shining, I feel blessed. This would be the perfect time to say: “Thank you, dear universe!”

HELL YEAH, the rims match!

I’m entirely taken by this song! It’s Marcela Mangabeira’s version of Michael Jackson classic “Human Nature”. Now “Human Nature” has never been my fav MJ tune, but this interpretation of it just stole my heart! It’s interesting to see how you sometimes only start recognizing the true beauty of a song if you hear a totally new version of it.

Blame it on the weather, blame it on summer hormones, but the Bossa Nova is really doing something to me!

He definitely makes my list of guys I’d get married to. Since we’re in a video-sharing-mood anyway: here’s his new video for “Make Her Say” feat. Kanye West & Common, who by the way are also on the list.

Two R’n'B queens are coming out with new videos:1st we have Mariah Carey. And the video for “Obsessed”  shows Mimi at her best: tacky, cheap, vulgar, too sweet, always way too naked, her clothes too tight and too short. But hey…..it’s Mariah – I’d be disappointed if it was actually a tasteful video! The song is obviously a diss towrads Eminem who’s been talking about Mariah, now Mrs. Nick Cannon, and him having an affair. She’s never said a word about what really happened between the two of them, but when Em came out with yet another song mentioning Mimi, her new husband Nick Cannon eventually took a stand for his wife. Some people even say that Nick wrote the lyrics for “Obsessed”. The video of course is full of references to Slim Shady, and still clip and song are only mediocre.

2nd we have Beyoncé. Let me be honest, I’m growing sick of her. There was a time when what she did was really outstanding. In terms of pop. Now, even though she still is one the most impressive live performers if not THE most impressive one, I’m really over her videos. It’s the way she presents herself as something/-one almost doll-like. And really? In the video for “Sweet Dreams” there are scenes where she literally looks like Barbie. I was never into the entire Sasha Fierce concept anyways so the wannabe-edgy look never worked for me (even though I thought that the video for “Single Ladies” was hot). The only things I really, really like about the clip are the choreography (the dancing is dope!) and consequently the two dancers! So: the song is cool, the video is……hhhhmmmmmm – let’s put it this way: nobody really needs this video.

“A Million Bucks” by Maino produced by Swizz BeatzThat’s one of my favorite tracks rightnow! I LOOOOOVE it! It’s a feel good song that immediately boosts my mood!I love Swizz Beatz productions because no matter how dumb his lyrics are sometimes, the beats sound amazing in the club! The entire crowd just starts bouncing! And it’s been like that since the beginning. The first Swizzy production I was exposed to was “Ruff Ryders Anthem” by the hypnotizing, compelling, intriguing DMX. X was on top of the world back in 1998, becoming the first rap artist to release two albums within 12 months that would go directly to number 1. It was amazing. The atmosphere in a club would change immediately as soon, as you heard the first couple of notes. And then GAME OVER! Til this day I love playing “Ruff Ryders Anthem” in the club!

I met Melanie about a month ago. I interviewed her for my radio show on Fritz and was really surprised how nice and cool she was as soon as I came in. While I was fixing my stuff, you know mic and recorder, I hear her make a really funny noise. I turn around and ask her if she was okay. She looks at me with her big eyes, points at my wrist and asks me if that was a tattoo. I glance down at the little red heart with the black outlines, look at her again and say “Yes. Why?” Then, without really giving me an answer, she lifts her arm and shows me a little tattoo on HER wrist. It’s a little HEART!

As you can imagine a real interview was almost impossible to do, we wanted to talk. Where did you get it? When? Why? Do you have any others? Turns out she doesn’t have any other tattoos (like me) and that she doesn’t want any others (like me). I took her and her crew out to party that night, we had major fun, so when I got an email from her early this week telling me about a show case she was going to play I was all happy to meet her again.

Melanie is a really talented singer. She has opened concerts for Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco and Keri Hilson.  Her voice is incredible and her presence on stage is amazing. That girl really needs to be up there. Her album is called “The Bridge” and if you ever have the chance to see her live – DO IT!

The guy played an amazing show at the Wuhlheide a while back. In two nights in a row he taped a live show in front of 17.000 people (each night that is!!!) which will be released as a live dvd in the near future. So after playing two concerts in November in a *sold out* Columbiahall he played two night in a *sold out* Wuhlheide AND will be playing TWO more shows there!!! So, if he sells out those two gigs, that would mean that by the end of this summer (the last show at the Wuhlheide is on August 26th with no other than Asher Roth opening the night) more than 70.000 will have seen Peter Fox on stage in the last 12 months. IN BERLIN ALONE!!!! I’m speechless.

Here are some pics from the incredible night!
