"Entschleunigung" heisst übrigens das Gebot des Jahres. Mit dem Versuch uns komplett daran zu halten, sind wir jetzt erst darauf gekommen, dieses auf dieser Seite umzusetzen. In der physikalischen Welt hat es bisher mit der "Entschleunigung" ganz passabel funktioniert, da ASPEKT RATIO als Zeitung immer noch nicht über die Nullnummer hinaus gekommen ist - die hingegen sieht immer noch klasse aus, obwohl das Papier bereits leicht vergilbt. Sehr nachhaltig, übrigens. Die Webseite haben wir nunmehr auch entschleunigt. Wenn man das Internet nicht löschen kann, dann zumindest aber einzelne Seite. Und darunter fällt auch aspektratio.com. Um die "Entschleunigung" weiter voranzutreiben, werden wir auf der ASV-Seite nun schrittweise unsere Blogeinträge löschen. Alle paar Tage wieder ein paar weniger. Downsizing nennt man das wohl, oder sukzessive negativ-progressive Anpassung. Wobei es dennoch immer zu weiteren Einträgen kommen wird, damit wir diese dann ebenfalls wieder löschen können. The Right Format ////////////////////// First things first, why a new publication? It’s a newspaper, so it’s surely news to us. New format, new demands and a new take on writing, photography and layout. It’s the quest for the right size, the adequate content and the proper texts about all the aspects of life that surround us, and those topics we have been unnoticed before. Therefore the name: Aspekt Ratio. The variant spelling comes from the German term, giving a hint where to locate its origins. Every issue will be mono-themed, having “a replenished and mono-themed view on culture, crises and communication”. That’s the claim chosen to be as indefinite as possible. More than a decade ago saw the “End of Print”, followed by the deconstruction of layout and content in magazines. Somewhere in between there may have been some takes on constructivism and probably other approaches to characterize magazine publishing in within the recent past. Basically, print media has been pronounced dead every second year. So, our first theme as you may have guessed is “The End”, the right decision for issue#1. Articles on music and movies, art and design, and everything else that has cultural relevance will be featured in every issue, four times a year. Accompanied by a little gimmick that will make the packaging heavier, and will leave you wondering what insert will be added to the next periodical. Choosing the newspaper format will offer some possibilities we all haven’t had before. First of it all, we now have a lot of space that will be filled with a massive amount of words, photography or artwork. Space that is used for articles, columns, essays and some occasional rants. Photography will be a part of the paper as well. However, there won’t be the usual fashion shots. Artwork from designers and illustrators will be displayed, using the newspaper’s height and width on its panorama pages. To be exact, this format will be 510 x 600 mm, somewhere between the format of the LA Times and Die Zeit. That’s the Aspekt Ratio of this publication.//////
